East Coast Railway GDCE Recruitment 2026: The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), East Coast Railway (ECoR), has released the official notification for the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,421 provisional vacancies across various safety and non-safety categories.

Important Note: This recruitment is exclusively for regular, eligible employees of East Coast Railway (including the erstwhile Waltair Division/SCoR). It is not open to the general public. RPF/RPSF personnel are ineligible to apply.

The vacancies are distributed across several technical and clerical roles:

  • Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP): 1,046 posts
  • Goods Trains Manager: 284 posts
  • Technicians (Gr. III): 51 posts
  • Junior Engineer (JE): 22 posts
  • Station Master: 12 posts
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist: 4 posts
  • Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector: 2 posts

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: As of January 1, 2027, the upper age limits are:

UR (Unreserved): 42 years

OBC: 45 years

SC/ST: 47 years

Educational Qualifications

  • ALP/Technician: Matriculation with ITI in the relevant trade OR Diploma/Degree in Engineering.
  • Station Master/Goods Trains Manager: Degree from a recognized university.
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist: 12th pass (minimum 50% marks) with English/Hindi typing proficiency.
  • Commercial Clerk cum Ticket Collector: 12th pass (minimum 50% marks).

Selection Process

The selection process involves multiple stages depending on the post:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT): Objective-type questions. A negative marking of 1/3rd mark applies for each wrong answer.
  • Aptitude/Skill Test: Applicable for ALP, Station Master (CBAT), and Junior Clerk (Typing Skill Test).
  • Document Verification (DV): Based on merit in CBT/CBAT.
  • Medical Examination: Conducted according to the prescribed standards for the specific post.
