New Skoda Superb Diesel Revealed Ahead of India Launch

New Skoda Superb: Skoda has officially revealed the new-generation Superb in India, and this time the premium sedan is making headlines for its diesel engine. The fourth-generation Superb is expected to launch in India in the first half of 2027, with deliveries likely to begin in the second quarter.

The new Superb will be brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU), with the top-spec Laurin & Klement variant expected to be offered. The return of a diesel engine is particularly significant, as it marks the comeback of a Volkswagen Group diesel model in India after around six years.

New Skoda Superb Diesel Engine

The India-spec Superb will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. It produces 150hp and 360Nm of peak torque and comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a front-wheel-drive setup. Skoda claims that the diesel Superb can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 225kmph.

The diesel engine should make the Superb particularly appealing to buyers who regularly travel long distances and want strong low-end torque along with highway performance.

New Skoda Superb: Premium Design

The new Superb continues Skoda’s understated but premium design approach. At the front, it gets the brand’s signature grille with chrome detailing, along with Matrix LED headlights and LED daytime running lights.

The side profile features 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and chrome-finished window surrounds. The Laurin & Klement branding on the front fenders gives the sedan a more premium appearance.

At the rear, the Superb gets wraparound LED tail-lights with welcome animations and the Skoda lettering on the tailgate. Overall, the design remains elegant rather than overly aggressive.

Spacious and Feature-Rich Interior

The fourth-generation Superb is designed around comfort and space. Globally, the model gets a large 13-inch infotainment display, a cleaner dashboard layout and Skoda’s Smart Dials. The gear selector has also been moved to the steering column, creating more space around the centre console.

The India-spec model is expected to offer a long list of premium features, making it suitable for buyers looking for a comfortable executive sedan with plenty of technology.

Expected Price and Launch

Skoda has not announced the final price of the new Superb in India yet. Since the car will arrive as a CBU, it is expected to sit in the premium sedan segment, with its price likely to be around the Rs 55-60 lakh range, depending on the final variant and specifications.

The new Skoda Superb diesel is expected to launch in the first half of 2027, while customer registrations of interest have already begun.

With its powerful 2.0-litre diesel engine, premium cabin and spacious design, the new Superb could attract buyers who still prefer the refinement and long-distance ability of a diesel-powered luxury sedan.
